Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the Russian press regarding Romania’s foreign policy and security strategy from 1896, marked by the visit of the emperor of Austria-Hungary to Bucharest, up to 1902, the 25th anniversary of the RussoOttoman War. I observe that Romania came under the “magnifying glass” of Russian journals, especially in the context of significant visits or rumors concerning the signing of conventions or alliances. I identify several binomials in the Russian press: Romania had approached the Triple Alliance versus not having taken the final step, and Romania had very good relations with Austria-Hungary versus strained relations with Russia after 1878.
