Abstract
Nella prima metà di questo articolo si discute della fase finale dell’Impero Ottomano, «il malato d’Europa», e delle politiche del Comitato Unione e Progresso, l’organizzazione che guidò la rivoluzione del 1908 e prese progressivamente il potere, in particolare in riferimento alle opere di Fabio L. Grassi e M. Şükrü Hanioğlu. L’articolo osserva poi la rinascita della nostalgia (hüzün) per il passato potere imperiale nella Turchia contemporanea. Questo sentimento è particolarmente forte nella vecchia capitale Istanbul ed è legato alla politica estera ambiziosa e dinamica di Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In its first half this paper discusses the final phase of the Ottoman Empire, «the sick man of Europe», and the policies of the Committee Union and Progress, the organization which led the 1908 revolution and progressively seized the power, in particular in reference to the works by Fabio L. Grassi and M. Şükrü Hanioğlu. Then the paper observes revival of the nostalgia (hüzün) for the former imperial power in contemporary Turkey. This feeling is particularly strong in the old capital Istanbul and is connected to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s ambitious and dynamic foreign policy.
